There’s going to be (& should be) immediate resistance against anyone being called the New Bob Dylan, but The Tallest Man On Earth (Kristian Matsson of Sweden) is definitely obvious about his influences.  This is a new era for folk music that is anything but new – excellent lyrics, virtuosic finger-picking, spare & earnest & honestly performed.  Matsson’s debut full-length Shallow Grave is worth picking up, & his new album is sure to be another kick in the pants for the genre.  It’s a tired style of music that is done with an unexpected & unasked-for urgency, & getting behind this man is easy.  Don’t let the voice put you off, dude is moving.
