YouTube Heroes: Denny ‘Blazin’ Hazen
We’re going to try something new here & start a YouTube Heroes Showcase segment. This is to highlight the men, women, & children (& animals, perhaps) who continue to make YouTube.com the greatest website the internet has to offer, even after all these years. If you think Web 2.0 is killing our culture, you have a strange ideal of culture, friend. It’s the frontier, & here it is for us to devour!
To kick things off, we go to an oldie but a goodie: the Average Homeboy himself, Denny Blazin Hazen. I remember stumbling across this amateur hip-hop promo video online before YouTube was even licensed, & I couldn’t be happier to discover it’s found a new home. The funniest things in this world are most often those that strive for heartfelt seriousness. “I’m not the typical rapper,” Hazen says, & if you aren’t blazed you aren’t living.
